KNIGHT'S BEACH ABOUT US

Knights Beach Then and Now!

We are proud to be Ontario's #1 Family Resort boasting a manicured 1/2 mile of pristine sandy beach, banquet hall, dances, wagon rides, general store, arcade, spacious play ground and much much more. Once your here you virtually never have to leave the grounds for we have all your basic necessities at your convienience.

Marlene McKay's goal as resort manager for 2008 is to fill our camp with new upscale 12 wide units with custom built decks and sheds. to make this resort one of the most attractive and updated recreational R.V. facilities on the Canadian South shores of Lake Erie.

Knights Beach gets its name from the Knight family which owned the place up untill the late 1960's. Back in those days farming was the predominant occupation of most individuals in the area. Percy decided that he could turn the place from a farmers field into a place where city folk would come in droves to spend time sitting on the sandy beach and swim in the warm water. It turned into a smashing success and Percy was able to give up the dairy business.

The park was then purchased by the Wasserman's  they made many changes and advancements to the place. Knights has always been a popular day getaway for people from Hamilton, Niagara, Toronto, and is frequented by patrons which arrive from overseas to camp for days or weeks at a time.

"Marv Wasserman remembers..I went to a resort one day and it was so bad  that I came home, phoned a few friends and said 'Find me a little place I can take my kids that's not too far away," the good-natured entrepreneur recalls. "So we went out there - it took about three hours because I had no idea where it was, and couldn't find it - and I bought it that day."

HALF-MlLE BEACH

The purchase included the half-mile beach, a campground, a day picnic area as well as a derelict 1888 farmhouse that needed a lot of refurbishing.

The half-mile of sandy beach is kept spotless by a maintenance crew which head out at 8:30 every morning to remove any debris which might have gathered overnight, The lake bottom is sandy when its calm, the water is clear and sparkling, which makes it ideal for families with young children.

The family has been diligent about making Knight's Beach more beautiful each year than when they first saw it. Over the years, they have added facilities and services prudently in order to maintain the natural integrity of the area while simultaneously satisfying the needs of customers and staying competitive.

AFFORDABLE..ITS ALL ABOUT SEASONAL CAMPING

Eminently affordable, the 200-acre property now boasts more than 450 campsites for tents and trailers, water, sewer and hydro hookups, hundreds of picnic tables, the sun protection of majestic old trees, a children's playground, scrupulously clean air-conditioned washrooms, and a 10,000 square foot recreation complex with a fine restaurant featuring a new menu along with old favourites like Lake Erie fish and pickerel. There's also a large banquet room often used for wedding receptions and private parties, a patio café, games and recreation room, sports bar with satellite dish and variety store.

A popular attraction is the boat ramp at the end of the beach. Many people bring their boats in for the day and head out to Three Mile Reef, a favourite spot for perch, bass and pickerel fishing.

QUIET NIGHTS

The on-site manager Marlene Mckay and her highly trained staff  keep the whole resort running smoothly including the overseeing of the security staff..Our concern is that  Noise is to be kept to a minimum and patrons are asked to turn music off after 11 pm but we also understand the enjoyment of camping and sitting by the fire we are just asking to please maintain a moderate noise level so you dont disturb your neighbours and fellow campers, so everyone can enjoy the sounds and silence of the night.

Over the last several years more young families have been coming out to Knight's Beach for summer days of swimming and picnicking.

"Young people are welcomed and sought after visitors at Knight's Beach," he says, "and we find our clientele always respects the guidelines we set for family camping.

"We're all part of a big family here, and we want everyone to have fun. We get a nice crowd of people, all different, but all just as keen as we are to keep the place nice so everyone can enjoy it.

WE ARE PROUD TO BE SPOTLESSLY CLEAN AND A SPONSOR OF THE GREEN EARTH PROGRAM.

Big green garbage bags are standard issue and visitors are encouraged to use them, a tactic that pays off in immaculately clean grounds.

The park is only 45 minutes from Hamilton, it's safe swimming in warm water, there's lots of shade, all kinds of picnic tables, a great restaurant if you don't want to picnic and peace and quiet at night..

We intend to keep our customers happy, year after year, at Knight's Beach Resort.

Knights Beach has its very own haunted farm house David Wasserman says, Percy the previous owner, shot himself in the barn and left a note telling his wife that he had buried a forture in cash somewhere on the property and he wished her luck in finding it. After over 40 years of extensive searching no one has been able to locate the treasure. The ghost of Percy Knight constantly roams through the farm house, as kids and to this day, we are constantly hearing the tossing, turning, moans and groans of this lost soul. ..

Edward Wasserman is the third generation. He is stepping in his Father's and Grandfather's footsteps. The conscientious teenager will meet many of the campers on a daily basis during the summer months. He will deliver your fire wood and early in the morning is on the beach for the daily clean up. His love for the camp is shown by how clean he helps keep the campgrounds. What more could a teenager ask for. Every summer you would meet new friends as well as see old ones. It is like a class reunion, only it happens every summer. Knight's Beach Resort is indeed a place to create lasting memories.
